Take it to the street

Dining • Retail • Office • Art

Parklets are public seating platforms that convert curbside parking spaces into vibrant community spaces. Get your business outside while honoring social distancing guidelines.

Like all current events, the urban fabric of our Cities and Towns are rapidly changing...

Many Cities around Colorado and the US are making plans to temporarily close streets to give restaurants and other businesses more space to serve their customers. This supports the new guidelines that allow restaurants to reopen while encouraging more outdoor dining to help ensure social distancing.

Some cities are allowing eateries to expand onto sidewalks and into alleyways, while others are creating new pedestrian malls.  Everyone is being forced to re-evaluate how to be successful in the face of strict regulations and required distancing. Local, smaller businesses are feeling the greatest pinch.

We at Colorado Parklets are gathering this need and transforming it into possibility. As a recent start-up, we’ve seen the potential of outdoor public spaces that can transcend the status quo and give small businesses an advantage to get back on solid ground. By expanding a businesses footprint into the street or public Right of Way, they are able to quickly pivot and provide more area to serve customers in a safe environment.

What is a Parklet?

Parklets are public seating platforms that convert curbside parking into usable space for dining, retail, office, art installations or community use. Also known as street seats or curbside seating, parklets are the product of a partnership between the city and local businesses, to open their doors for business while honoring social distancing guidelines.

What makes Colorado Parklets so unique is its modular construction.  Our parklets have a distinctive design that incorporates a patented moduLIFT© system for modular assembly. Pre-made and ready to ship your parklet can be installed within a matter of days.  Additional options include seating, planters, barrier options, and bike racks to name a few.

CDOT Grant for Streetscape Challenge

Your Colorado Parklets could be covered by a grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation.  The state is stepping in with a new $4.1 million grant program to encourage more creative uses for public streets as businesses revive after the pandemic shutdown.

The Revitalizing Main Streets program was developed to support infrastructure projects that provide open spaces for mobility, community activities and economic development in the wake of the COVID-19 emergency. These quick-win activities will improve safety and create new community spaces to encourage healthy activity and mobility in Colorado’s towns and cities.

CDOT’s streetscape challenge will offer small-scale grants that support creative uses of public infrastructure in both cities and small towns across the state.
